Gothwan Cooper has been taken by the Dead Rats gang. Private Hawthidon sends you to raid the Dead Rats' hideout to interrogate Gothwan about the location of Karzov, the leader of the Nashers, and the Crown of Neverwinter.

• Raid the Dead Rats' hideout to find Gothwan Cooper and learn where Karzov is hiding.

Summary

Private Hawthidon

We aren't the only ones who want Gothwan to reveal the location of Karzov and the Crown. A gang of wererat thieves, known as the Dead Rats, caught wind of his involvement and kidnapped him. The Nashers abandoned Gothwan to his fate, so if you can rescue him he will likely tell us everything he knows.

The Dead Rats lair in the sewers here [sic]. I'll mark a known entry on your map, but be careful. Gothwan is no doubt being kept deep within their nest.

Yes, I helped steal the Crown of Neverwinter! I was a loyal Nasher, but after Karzov left me to die down here, I don't owe him anything. I'll tell you what I know about where Karzov is now, and also where he's stashed the Crown.

Hey, if you see that treacherous bastard. remind him that loyalty works both ways - preferably while you're twisting a blade in his guts!

Gothwan told us everything. Now we know where Karzov is hiding, and where the Crown is. With any luck, we'll catch him and recover the Crown before the day is done.

Walkthrough

• Go to Blacklake Sewers

• Follow the road to the northwest until the first intersection.
• Continue west at the next intersection.
• Turn south at the following intersection and enter the sewers.

• Investigate Dead Rats's Lair
• Find Dead Rats' Nest

• Proceed east and then north to the stairs, fighting wererats along the way.
• Descend to the lower level.
• Proceed south and through the slightly twisting passage to the east.
• Continue south and follow the turn to the east to the lever.
• Pull the lever and descend down the now accessible stairs.
• Continue south carefully to the stairs going up, avoiding the arrow traps that shoot across the corridor if possible.
• Proceed up the stairs, defeat Varin Chalgash and four minions, then walk up to the gate to open it.
• Proceed south and heal at the campsite if desired.
• Head east to the archway, fighting more wererats along the way.

• Defeat Fleabottom

• He starts out with a couple of Scum to help.
• As the fight progresses, a pair of Scum and Minions will periodically spawn.

• Talk to Gothwan

• Collect Reward

• Collect the reward from the chest south of him.

• Return to Hawthidon

• Proceed through the gate next to the chest.
• Follow the road east until it turns southeast.
• Continue southeast and talk to Private Hawthidon to finish the quest.
