The Artifact of the Matter (Artificing) is a Masterwork Professions quest that unlocks Artificing recipes. Your Artificing must be rank 25 and your Stronghold Guild Hall must be at least rank 10 to take this quest.

Objective

  • Complete Artificing Tasks for The Artisan.

Once training begins you may not begin training another profession until it is complete. Training can be time consuming and expensive, do not begin training unless you are certain of your choice.

Summary

The Artisan
You want to learn more about artificing? It'll be a long process, but if you and your hirelings succeed, every soul on the Sword Coast will be looking to buy your wares.

First I need to see the starting line, bring me two hundred and fifty [Ornamental Adamantine] and two hundred and fifty [Carved Ebony Wood].

What, I said this was going to be time consuming didn't I? Consistency is paramount, bring the materials and we'll go from there

After turning in first materials:

Back already? I admit, I was hoping such a daunting task might drive you away... I seem to attract the most stubborn sort of people... No matter, where were we?

Ah yes, not bad, Adventurer, the carvings are meticulous and beautiful. I can see you've earned your reputation. Don't get your head in the clouds though, you've still got a long way to go.

Regardless, this should cover The Steward's orders for the next few months. What, you didn't think I'd get nothing out of this for myself, did you?

For your next task, I want you to pour your heart into a finished product, three finished products to be precise. Bring me a [Gemmed Elemental Orb of Storm], a [Gemmed Elemental Pact Blade of Hexes], and a [Gemmed Elemental Symbol of Divinity].

Completion

The Artisan
Well done, the enchantments on these items are quite powerful. The underlying materials, however, leave something to be desired. You can etch the most powerful magicks into an item, but at the end of the day the base materials need to be sturdy enough to channel that power.

At best when the materials are lacking, a powerful spell might fail, at worst the item could be destroyed. A proper tool for working with quality materials ought to make things easier.

You've earned this picatrix, it's served me for many years. Now let's see what your artificers can do with it.
