Looming Large (Tailoring) is a Masterwork Professions quest that unlocks Tailoring recipes. Your Tailoring must be rank 70? and your Stronghold Guild Hall must be at least rank 10 to take this quest.

Objective[ | ]

  • Complete Tailoring Tasks for The Artisan.

Once training begins you may not begin training another profession until it is complete. Training can be time consuming and expensive, do not begin training unless you are certain of your choice.

Summary[ | ]

The Artisan
No doubt you are eager to put your new tool to the test. Luckily an order for a dozen [Cashmere Yarn] just arrived.

You'll need [cashmere wool], gather it yourself with an explorer's chart, or buy it from the auction house. The wool must be carefully washed with dilluted [oil of vitriol] before being handspun.

You're liable to fail more than you succeed, the process is grueling, but stick with it. When you have the yarn, bring it to me.

Steps[ | ]

  • Deliver Cashmere Yarn to the Artisan
  • Deliver Cashmere Cloth to the Artisan
  • Deliver Samite to the Artisan
  • Deliver Cashmere Carpet to the Ranger
  • Return to the Artisan

Dialogue[ | ]

After turning in first materials:

The Artisan
Perhaps this hasn't been a waste of time after all, the yarn came out as well as one could hope for. Seems you have more of a knack for this than I gave you credit.

Cashmere is a highly sought after material for a reason. Lighter, softer and warmer than a sheep's wool, it's something you have to feel to understand.

As luck would have it, it's also your next order. Bring me six bolts of [Cashmere] cloth.

After turning in second materials:

The Artisan
You've done well relaying my lessons to your artisans, and they've done well to master the spinning wheel in such a short time.

I received an order from The Cleric for a bolt of [Samite]. It's a gaudy fabric made of silk and [gold wire] drawn so thin it can be woven like thread.

In some kingdoms, the wearing of samite is restricted to royalty or the noble class. It's also quite common in holy rituals, no doubt why The Cleric has placed this request.

Working with the golden wire will be a new and difficult challenge. When you have the samite, return to me.

After turning in third materials:

The Artisan
Beautiful, tell your workers that I'm impressed. Samite is not easy to work with.

I have one last task for you, an order for a [Cashmere Carpet]. It's for the stronghold's ever forgetful ranger. The request was anonymous, suffice to say someone with deep pockets wishes to give our elven friend a gift.

A carpet's a bit of a different beast than a robe or a bolt of fabric. First you'll need to weave a backing out of [jute], a plant common in the south—The Traveling Merchant should have some for sale. From there you'll want to sew loops of yarn to the backing, it sounds simple, but some artists devote their lives to the craft.

Deliver the finished carpet directly to The Ranger. Oh, and see if he has any idea why someone would order him such an extravagant carpet. I admit, I'm a little curious.

After delivering Cashmere Carpet to the Ranger:

The Ranger
The Ranger appears shaken as he looks over the carpet.

A cashmere carpet?

It's just like the one my parents had. I always enjoyed the way it felt on my feet.

It was lost when I had to flee my home.

I don't know who asked you to make this, or how they knew about the carpet... But give them my thanks. It's nice to have something that reminds me of my parents.

The Artisan
I'm surprised to hear such a sad story from The Ranger. I suppose everyone has a history... except me, of course. I'm just a simple old man.

You have done well to relay my every lesson to your artisans, whether you think of yourself as such, you are indeed the master of a trade guild.

I've taken the liberty of having a new spinning wheel made, and a loommaster's garments to boot. The spinning wheel should serve your tailors better than that old hand-me-down I gave you earlier, and if you're going to lead a tailor's guild, you ought to look the part.

You've learned everything I have to teach, and the harpy hasn't come around to bother me since the start. It's been an honor.
