Down to the Wire (Armorsmithing) is a Masterwork Professions quest that unlocks Armorsmithing recipes. Your Armorsmithing must be rank 70? and your Stronghold Guild Hall must be at least rank 10 to take this quest.
Objective[edit | edit source]
- Complete Armorsmithing Tasks for The Artisan.
Once training begins you may not begin training another profession until it is complete. Training can be time consuming and expensive, do not begin training unless you are certain of your choice.
Summary[edit | edit source]
Use the lathe to draw out the wire carefully. You're liable to fail more than you succeed, the process is grueling, but stick with it. When you have the wire, bring it to me.

Dialogue[edit | edit source]
After turning in first materials:
Treating the wire and chain creation process as two separate tasks is important, they require a distinctly different set of skills.
Your next task will be to use that wire to make three [Adamant Rings] and three [Adamant Scales]. You'll need to trade with other smiths for [adamant rivets] and [ingots]. When you have the scales and chains, bring them to me.
After turning in second materials:
You've done well relaying my lessons to your artisans. It's time for one last test. Your maillers are used to working with black metals, but wire can be created from precious metals as well.
Be careful or you'll shatter the gold. Spare no expense.
After turning in third materials:
Running the stronghold is a lot of work, the man has an impressive internal clock but he could benefit from something a bit more precise, a [Pocket Timepiece].
First you'll need a [mainspring], Gond artisans keep that recipe under lock and key. Thankfully Balduran merchants are not above exporting the things. The Traveling Merchant should have some for sale.
From there, I suggest you make nice with a jewelcrafter, you're going to need a lot of gold.
When you have the completed timepiece, bring it directly to The Steward.
After turning in Pocket Timepiece to The Steward:
The Steward looks at the pocket timepiece. He puts it in his pocket and nods.

You have done well to relay my every lesson to your artisans, whether you think of yourself as such, you are indeed the master of a trade guild.
I've taken the liberty of having a new lathe made, and a maillemaster's garments to boot. The lathe should serve your maillers better than that old hand-me-down I gave you earlier, and if you're going to lead a mailsmithing guild, you ought to look the part.
You've learned everything I have to teach, and the harpy hasn't come around to bother me since the start. It's been an honor.
